For several days, Tuzla was a city of books, ideas and conversations as thousands of visitors, publishers, authors and lovers of the written word gathered for the 3rd Book Fair “Tuzla 2026”.
Among the many stories being shared at the fair was one about connection between generations, cultures and communities. Through books, conversations, workshops and activities for children and young people, the fair created a space where people could meet, learn from one another and simply enjoy being together.
The programme offered something for everyone: educational activities, panel discussions, workshops, meetings with editors and authors, literary evenings and interactive activities for visitors of all ages. Particular attention was given to young readers, school and student programmes, local authors and contemporary issues reflected through literature.
EUFOR was also part of this vibrant gathering, introducing visitors to Operation Althea and its role in supporting a safe and stable environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For the youngest visitors, the EUFOR stand quickly became a place to stop, play and meet the soldiers behind the uniforms. Children took part in creative activities and games, while EUFOR’s medical team demonstrated basic first-aid techniques and showed why knowing how to respond quickly can make a difference in an emergency.
The fair also provided an opportunity for EUFOR Commander, Major General Maurizio Fronda, to address visitors and underline the importance of events that bring communities together.
“A safe and secure environment provides the space in which everyday life can flourish, where children can learn, businesses can operate and cultural events such as this can take place. I encourage everyone, particularly younger visitors, to use this opportunity to discover something unfamiliar, a new author, a new idea or perhaps simply a different point of view.”,said Major General Fronda.
The organisers expressed their appreciation for EUFOR’s support and presence, noting that events which bring people together can thrive when communities enjoy a safe and stable environment.
From books and stories to conversations and new friendships, the Book Fair in Tuzla offered a simple reminder: strong communities are built when people have the opportunity to meet, connect and share.
