Deputy Commander of EUFOR Brigadier General Lorenzo Dal Maso attended a ceremony on Mt. Zec, near Fojnica commemorating the fatal crash of an aircraft of the Italian Air Force on 03 September 1992.
The tragic event happened when the G 222 aircraft, operating under UNHCR mandate, was flying from Split to Sarajevo transporting medical supplies and humanitarian aid to the local population under siege.
Not long before landing, the aircraft was hit by two missiles which led to explosion and the crash on top of Mt. Zec, taking the lives of all four members of the crew.
EUFOR pays tribute to the sacrifice of those who fell in the line of duty of supporting those in need.
