The Commander of EUFOR (COM EUFOR), Major General Johann LUIF, paid an introductory courtesy call to Member of the Presidency of BiH, Mr Dragan Čović, in Sarajevo on 5 February 2015. Both Major General LUIF and Mr Čović valued the opportunity to meet and discuss their respective priorities for 2015. Mr Čović expressed his appreciation of EUFOR’s support in developing the capacity and capabilities of the Armed Forces of BiH through its Capacity, Building and Training Programme.

EUFOR’s programme known under the slogan ‘Arming with Knowledge’ provides training, mentoring and technical expertise at all levels to the Armed Forces as well as advice to the Ministry of Defence. It develops niche capabilities necessary to intervene in disaster relief whilst enhancing the capacity to participate in peace support operation elsewhere in the world. EUFOR’s contribution to building up the capacity of the Armed Forces is an essential element of the EU’s efforts in BiH.
