EUFOR personnel joined young people from FK Sarajevo and SFK Sarajevo on 14th October for the “Building Bridges” event at the FK Sarajevo Training Camp.
The event brought together over one hundred young participants of different ages for a day of educational, recreational and sporting activities designed to encourage meaningful interaction, shared learning and positive engagement between EUFOR personnel and the local community.
Throughout the day, participants took part in physical and mental training focused on resilience and fitness, received basic first aid and CPR instruction, learned about fire safety and Mine Risk Education, and watched a working dog demonstration. EUFOR personnel also presented selected vehicles and equipment, giving the participants an opportunity to learn more about the mission and its capabilities.
The programme also included a football competition involving EUFOR personnel, with the winning team scheduled to play against the FK Sarajevo U-19 team. Through events such as “Building Bridges”, EUFOR seeks to contribute visibly and impartially to communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina while creating opportunities for young people to interact directly with mission personnel.
Shared activities through sport, education and practical learning help strengthen understanding, build trust and reinforce the connection between EUFOR and the communities it serves. EUFOR remains committed to maintaining a visible, credible and engaged presence throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina in support of a safe and secure environment.
