CSM Róbert Kovács
joined the Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF) in 1995, right after finishing his secondary education.
His first position was squad leader at the HDF 32nd Ceremonial Battalion which provided him with a robust foundation for his further assignments, a strong sense of military discipline, extensive knowledge of code of conduct and regulations and utmost respect for military traditions.
Later, he was assigned to the HDF Military Prison where he fulfilled positions with growing level of responsibility in the field of detention between 1996 and 2006.
From 2007, for seven years he served as the chief dispatch officer of the HDF Military Movement Centre. He was transferred to the operations branch of the centre in 2014, and in 2018, he was appointed to be the centre’s chief sergeant major.
In 2022, he continued his career as the chief sergeant major of the HDF Logistics Inspectorate and then as the chief sergeant major of the HDF Force Modernization and Transformation Command.
During his military career, CSM Kovács served one tour in the Sinai Peninsula (MFO), two tours in Cyprus (UNFICYP) and three tours in Afghanistan (ISAF, RSM); where his international assignments included infantryman, military police patrol, logistic mentor, airlift planner and watchkeeper positions.
Besides national, UN and NATO decorations for his peacekeeping missions, the Bronze Grade of the Service Merit Award and the Service Award for Migration Crisis Management were also awarded to him.
CSM Kovács is married with one son.
