The first day of exercise Quick Response 17 is underway. The exercise is designed to test EUFOR's, the Law Enforcement Agencies and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina contingency plans in dealing with a scenario involving a series of fictitious terrorist attacks.

NATO's Force Tactical Reserves from Kosovo merged with the Hungarian company from EUFOR's Multinational Battalion to support the Border Police in securing Sarajevo International Airport after a series of fictional terrorist attacks. The Turkish element of EUFOR's Multinational Battalion were testing their urban training, dealing with civil unrest and securing buildings.

Whilst the Intermediate Response Force for the UK were securing the area around an ammunition storage site in support of the Armed Forces of BiH. EUFOR maintains the capacity to react in any area of BiH to any localised security challenge and that EUFOR will maintain a mechanism whereby reserve forces may be deployed in a timely manner in order to support BiH authorities maintain a safe and secure environment.
