On Wednesday the 12th of August a ceremony was held marking the change of command of the EUFOR Multinational Battalion (MNBN). The Multinational battalion is a group of soldiers from nations around Europe who combine to serve within EUFOR. Lieutenant Colonel Michael Köck handed over to Lieutenant Colonel Reinhard Bacher during the event witnessed by guests including COM EUFOR Major General Johann Luif and COM NATO HQ Sarajevo Brigadier General Giselle Wilz.
Lieutenant Colonel Bacher said during a speech at the ceremony, ‘The EUFOR Althea mission is challenging and interesting. We play an important role in Capacity Building and Training for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in conducting Combined Training together’
Safe and Secure Environment
The MNBN exercises regularly with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) and in October of this year will be exercising alongside reserve troops from across Europe. The exercise, called Operation Rehearsal, will train EUFOR’s capability to bring in reserve forces to assist BiH authorities in maintaining a safe and secure environment. The exercise happens every year, in co-operation AFBiH and troop contributing nations.
