On the occasion of the anniversary of the catastrophic flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Office of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina awarded EUFOR with a letter of appreciation for the assistance during last year’s natural disaster. The event took place in the United Nations House in Sarajevo.
EUFOR’s Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, Colonel Savas Celepoglu, received the certificate on behalf of the EUFOR Althea Headquarters. ”EUFOR is always ready to support the BiH population”, he said.
EUFOR has helped to evacuate the population in flood affected areas by helicopter. Timely movement and care has been provided by medical personnel to injured and sick people. After the evacuations EUFOR’s support continued with the transport of goods and supplies to affected areas all over Bosnia and Herzegovina through air transport and where roads have been passable, all-terrain vehicles.
